Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #152

A Summer Night by Belinda Roddie A summer night that's not too warm, but keeps me comfortable is just the night I need to kick back on the couch as my girl sleeps, reading a book or watching some TV. Yes, I may prefer autumn, the coolness and color both pluses for my long strolls during crisp mornings, and I do confess that winter is nice as well, as the cold seeps into my pores and gives me a jolt that makes me feel alive. Yet summer still remains a soft spot in my heart and soul as I enjoy a modest evening chill across my bones. Anxiety will lift, despite the seasons' turmoils. I will drift.

Today's OneWord: Metro

"Are you on the metro now?" "Yeah," I grumbled from my padded corner, staying as far away as possible from the man who smelled like a mix of bourbon and cat urine. "Wish it could go faster. I'll be there in fifteen." "And you have the stuff?" I smiled. "She won't see it coming." It was my girlfriend's twenty-fifth birthday, and the party, if I had things my way, was going to be off the chain.
