Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #411

The Crowd At Nova's by Belinda Roddie The crowd at Nova's asked for coconut rum with their ginger beer, and then red wine to cleanse the palate. Smoking cigarettes, the huddled masses spoke of being tired and poor, yet still, they could scrap enough change to buy overpriced cocktails at the bar across the way from their townhouses. Main courses became crumbs, their white platters scarred, while desserts disappeared, polished right off with scotch and bourbon and liqueurs all sweet. Then, the crowd grew silent, save for a cough from an old man in the corner, his feet dangling from his stool. Then ev'ryone laughed and ordered another pint and a half.
