Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #498

The Twenty-Fifth by Belinda Roddie The twenty-fifth brought a few surprises to our home, where the aroma of sweet almond meringue cookies sat in noses and the taste in our contented bellies. First, Father returned home after a week of illness, and he prepared a dinner fit for, in our opinion, royalty. Then our family cat began to purr, something it had not done in o'er a year, while my brother remembered how to sing and performed for us. Now we knew our ears would also tingle with delight. A ring to end the evening? Yes, upon my life, Sal's girlfriend decided to be her wife.
