Today's OneWord: Radical

There was nothing radical about Sam's dissertation, but she sure as Hell acted like it was. She seriously seemed to believe that what she had written was cutting edge - extreme - full of shocking new information. It wasn't. It was simply a slanted perspective of a controversial topic we were all familiar with - and over half of our classmates agreed with her. I sighed and lowered my head against my desk as she verbally patted herself on the back in indulgent praise of her own work.

Today's OneWord: Statues

Why were the statues going white, and why was the rain cascading in sheets? I tried to find solace by the window, but the world outside had become nothing but glass. Blankets of water blurred the semblance of life that I stretched my mind to detect. Near me, my lover was asleep on the divan with wine pooling across her lap. Her curls lay in wet swaths around the warm nape of her neck. The statues would crumble in due time. The deluge was impending. We both would drown.
