The Sadness Of A Sticker
by Belinda Roddie

The sadness of a sticker stripped across
your forehead involves several things, like
the itching, sticky feeling on your skin,
or the neon reminder of something
you can't stop people from calling you. You
don't want that label, plastered in the crease
above your eyes that beg for one chance to
pull off the thing, but even when you do,
the residue lingers on your eyebrows
and everyone remembers it was there.
It's tragic that those forced to become an
abused cartoon have to impose the glue
on others' faces because they believe
that it's right, but alas - those thoughts deceive.
