Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

Sometimes, when it comes to introspection, it's not about ruminating over my thoughts alone, but over the thoughts and desires and voices of others. Sometimes, it's not about me, but about the culture and society I live in. It's about my friends, my family, my lover, and my communities. And sometimes, that means the only way I can be introspective is by letting others speak for me. Their thoughts are not necessarily my own, but they carry similar sentiments, and they strike at pieces of myself that are somewhat broken from the events happening my country but still resonate with some life. I know it may seem like a writer's cop-out, but I think the only way I can do my introspection tonight is by letting others have their voice rather than talking over them. Their stories are not the same as mine. But they are woven in the same tapestry. Today's OneWord: Legendary

She was meant to be legendary. A hero for the ages. Silver armor, golden helmet, and cast iron sword, driving that formidable blade into the hearts of beasts all over the land. It never happened. No legends or myths or epic tales came from her life. She had wanted to be a knight, but one critical injury later, and she was drinking heavily at the local tavern, trying to ignore the wooden cane nestled behind her, an extra leg she would always need to rely on for the rest of her days.
