Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #483

We Drank Hot Cocoa by Belinda Roddie We drank hot cocoa, spiked, late through the night and listened to Christmas carols until our eyelids grew heavy and our breaths light. You helped me up the stairs, the windowsill in our bedroom frosted; you tucked me in and sang to me as we both braved the chill and the heat of the blankets graced my chin. My episode had not quite ended yet, and so you remained patient with me as I slipped into dreams where I'd forget, though temporarily, my new faux pas. Winter approached, and still, we both kept warm, making hot cocoa through personal storms.
