Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

Welp. It may already be 2020, but it's time to get introspective about 2019. To begin, this was not an easy year. Not in the slightest. I made a lot of serious mistakes, took several steps back mentally, and wound up having to rebuild a lot of my confidence and self-esteem. I know that growth is not an endless incline, but I felt like I wound up with a lot of metaphorical scrapes, bruises, and scars. Even though I'd like to think I've improved as a person because of these misadventures, I certainly wish I didn't have to go through the pain, questioning, and anxiety in order to be "enlightened." It's safe to say that the first half of this year was an absolute trial that I had to overcome, and the second half of the year was the recovery phase. I took a huge step forward as a writer, started a new chapter in my teaching journey, and made sure I had the proper resources to help me heal.
