Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

Rough week this time around, so I'm pretty mentally exhausted. However, I've discovered several things: 1. The national debt could be at 50% the nation's annual income and we'd be fine. 2. CISPA sucks and any other congressional bill censoring the Internet and invading our privacy sucks more. 3. Abridged series on Youtube are awesome. 4. Can the election just be over now? 5. My second grade class is amazing even when it's not. 6. My favorite local pub's selling of my favorite Irish cider is so perfect. 7. I painfully miss my girlfriend. 8. I painfully miss my Southern Californian friends. 9. I have a painfully large canker sore on my soft palate that needs to die. 10. I really need a job that I can do in the summer and not just the school year. 11. Celtic music for meditation and writing is my most glorious discovery from last week. 12. Reflections in the Glass by Belinda Roddie A room of mirrors Sufficiently placed Among a ceaseless gaggle of fair maidens They giggle at reflections On all sides, above and below, The floor a glassy surface for Their eyes to shine like silver A room of mirrors for the men, too— They straighten cuffs, admire their beards – “How maidens will succumb to such Reflections from the glass To reemerge as godlike men In all their quiet splendor!” How the mirrors make them smile But how they lie When the baron’s cruelty is muffled By his ascot, the fool smiles Under his feathered cap, and ladies’ Own silly whims and fancies only glitter Under the sequins of their gowns Rooms of mirrors separate And do not tell of happy endings. Today's OneWord: Ruby

Ruby lips are so cliché. Try some cerulean for once. Sky lips glistening from across the room. Better than sapphire - that kind of blue's too dark. It'll contrast with the green olive in your glass. The silver stem. The golden dress. The black hat pushed over his short brown hair. Sky lips powdered with pink clouds. And the eyes are completely white.
