Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #291

My Lover Played the Flute by Belinda Roddie My lover played the flute, all hum and trill, perched on a stool in the dark living room, her fingers dancing on each silver hill and valley, keys clicking as each sweet tune rose like a whistle on the Irish sea, a warbling and a bubbling from the foam, the soft and subtle lilts of melody that could tell stories and cause hearts to roam, and harmony caressing both my ears as I stood in the hallway, listening to my sweet love, her practice through the years on full display as she made the notes sing in the air, in the sky, and in the space, where I was sure magic was taking place.
