Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #492

Trembling, I Locked by Belinda Roddie Trembling, I locked my diary and chucked the key into the bottom drawer of my dresser, hoping that, with a bit of luck, my sister's glare or mother's wand'ring eye would not be able to access the words I cautiously put down on paper. How could they respect a princess whose heart hurts when looking upon another dame? Now I sat upon my bed, the canopy a harsh red sky for me, and I chose to pretend that I was anywhere but here, instead with the one in my journal - who I called my own, my love, my bride to be. Perhaps, I thought, I'd burn my diary.
