Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #309

I Wrote A Silly Song by Belinda Roddie I wrote a silly song about a guy who ran a conspiracy theory show and screamed into the mike until his eyes rolled back and his face held a sanguine glow. He sold products that cost both arms and legs, claiming they'd make you safe and strong. He swore by doctors without degrees, so it begged the question: What if there was something more to his crazy hijinks? I wrote the tune, highlighting all the times that he shrieked, " Hoax!" The melody was light (and bouncy, too), though the lyrics were harsh, that ain't a joke. No, I will not reveal the loony's name, as being sued won't be my claim to fame.

Today's OneWord: Deserve

Someone tried to convince me that I didn't deserve you. That I didn't deserve the glance you cast me halfway across the room. Someone told me they'd be better for you - hold you tighter, kiss you more sweetly. I asked, "But can you throw a punch like me?" And before they could respond, I clocked them in the side of the head and knocked them out.
