Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #181

My Violin by Belinda Roddie My violin was broken, split in half, because my jealous brother had never been able to rival me in music. I was ready to strike him, open-palmed, delivering a blow strong enough to knock teeth out, or squish cartilage in his flabby nose. I was ready to crack the destroyed fingerboard across his dense skull and stick the snapped off strings right up his - well, I wouldn't go there. Hell, I was ready to throw him into my car trunk and drive him into a lake. Instead, my face fell, my grip slackened, and my once strong resolve disappeared. I was, to my chagrin, calm.
