Tonight's Poet Corner: A Hum
A Hum by Belinda Roddie I heard a voice emerge from an automobile that did not belong to its driver. The windows were tinted, so I could not gaze upon silhouettes. Yet the voice was loud enough to be heard from across the street. Like a murmuring siren emerging out of nowhere. Who could be speaking so loudly, yet so calmly, at this time of night? And how damn high were this dude's car speakers, if they were turned on at all? I hear a laugh. It's genuine, carefree. The night has gotten colder despite the voice's warmth.
