Tonight's Poet Corner: The Christening

The Christening by Belinda Roddie I named this child Adonis not because they are beautiful nor because they will be gored by some temperamental boar who needs to take anger management classes but because one day they will inherit everything I have which is the world every ocean and mountain and every piece of sky collected like glass over the past seven centuries Adonis shall have it all and they shall truly be granted the title of Lord

Today's OneWord: Heated

The conversation was tepid at first, but it got heated pretty damn quickly. Karen and Nicholas were both red-faced and fuming, their clenched fists hidden under the table, as Oliver tried to nonchalantly focused on eating his stew. His brother, Derek, stared listlessly out the window, wishing that the passing cars were loud enough to muffle his parents' screaming.
