Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

Sometimes, when it comes to introspection, it's not about ruminating over my thoughts alone, but over the thoughts and desires and voices of others. Sometimes, it's not about me, but about the culture and society I live in. It's about my friends, my family, my lover, and my communities.

And sometimes, that means the only way I can be introspective is by letting others speak for me. Their thoughts are not necessarily my own, but they carry similar sentiments, and they strike at pieces of myself that are somewhat broken from the events happening my country but still resonate with some life.

I know it may seem like a writer's cop-out, but I think the only way I can do my introspection tonight is by letting others have their voice rather than talking over them.

Their stories are not the same as mine. But they are woven in the same tapestry.

Please listen to this spoken word video, and hopefully it will tell you more about how I am feeling and what I am thinking than I could ever convey on this insignificant blog.

Have a great night and a great weekend, everyone. And most of all, remember to love.
