I Wish We Had Thanksgiving
by Belinda Roddie

I wish we had Thanksgiving every day -
think of the turkey, mashed potatoes, pies,
and all the other goodies served our way.
I'd get to see my family each night,
with bottles of wine emptying into
tall glasses, conversation going strong
as we recall memories we've gone through
and reminisce and laugh all evening long.
But do I need such an enormous meal
each day? And truly, isn't Thanksgiving
all year already? Yes, it's true, it's real,
when you think about it, 'cause here's the thing:
As long as you give thanks and still recall
your loved ones, it's Thanksgiving after all.
