No OneWord today. I guess with all the stuff happening with California Bookstore Day and my cousin and brother's belated birthday celebration, I totally forgot to write a response to the one word prompt. Whoops!
Here we have the madman, standing at the podium. He screams threats and obscenities, and the meager audience cheers. They wear red hats and stamp their feet and gesture to the wind, taunting the spirits and daring them to change the course of time, to change the course of history, which never, ever ends. The madman is strutting. He's grinning at his prize. In perhaps a year, the world will change - the colors will all dim.
"Um...Todd?" "Yeah, man?" Sarah shifted uncomfortably in her lawn chair. "Why is that planter filled with plastic gnomes?" "Oh, it's my gnome crop. You like?" She stared as he nonchalantly sipped his iced tea. "Gnome...crop?" "Yeah, the gnome crop always comes in this time of year. I dig them up when they're ripe and sell 'em at the Farmer's Market."
