Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #152

A Summer Night
by Belinda Roddie

A summer night that's not too warm, but keeps
me comfortable is just the night I need
to kick back on the couch as my girl sleeps,
reading a book or watching some TV.
Yes, I may prefer autumn, the coolness
and color both pluses for my long strolls
during crisp mornings, and I do confess
that winter is nice as well, as the cold
seeps into my pores and gives me a jolt
that makes me feel alive. Yet summer still
remains a soft spot in my heart and soul
as I enjoy a modest evening chill
across my bones. Anxiety will lift,
despite the seasons' turmoils. I will drift.
