Today's OneWord: Weather

Georgia was one of the only people I knew who actually liked to talk about the weather. Not only was her husband, Ronald, a meteorologist featured on our local news, but she also found everything, from rain to droughts to floods to tornadoes, absolutely fascinating. When she chugged a couple of good-sized beers, she'd rant about how badly the town had handled our latest hurricane, and somehow, she made it all very entertaining.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

This introspection is certainly written far earlier than the evening, but starting from early Friday afternoon, I will be without internet until Sunday. I will be celebrating the new year up north with my family, friend, and girlfriend where there are no computers or TV. Which is nice. As a result, there will be no OneWord blog entries for Friday and Saturday. Storyteller will be a day late. I know I intended to post every day, but sometimes life demands a break or vacation from even creative outlets. So once I'm back and provided that my house hasn't been broken into during our trip (yay, irrational worrying), I will be back to posting on Sunday. Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

All right, lovelies. It's official. I will not be returning to my high school campus for the rest of the school year. It's weird, for lack of a better word. It's just weird. Discombobulating? Disorienting? Guess I had more words than I thought. Anyway, today, I drove up to the high school I work at and picked up a few things. Being in my classroom for the first time in three weeks...it definitely made me feel a wee bit sentimental, I'll tell you that right now. No amount of work I do online for my students is going to compensate for being physically present for kids who really need said presence. I'm trying very hard to stay confident that, ultimately, my fellow citizens will be wise enough to take this pandemic seriously. Arden and I don't walk much beyond our neighborhood these days. Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

All right! So what did I do this week, the first week of being in my thirties?! Weeeellllll... I wrote multiple episodes of audio files for an original character I created with a friend. I have gone to the gym three days a week for the past three weeks. I focused on nerdy stuff, mostly emphasizing Star Wars. I got to enjoy family time and watched Yesterday, that film about the Beatles and such. I got to jam with my best bud over the weekend, creating new music and coolness. I connected with my future teaching colleagues at the school I'll be working at starting in late August. I updated this blog (of course). I tried to play along to a scammer's email - they didn't take the bait. I enjoyed some quality time with my cat and the wifey. Speaking of the wifey, I also took some headshots of her and felt rather accomplished as a photographer.
