Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #206

It's Broken, But...
by Belinda Roddie

It's broken, but some glue would do the trick,
some scotch tape and some stitches, nice and neat.
It won't look perfect, but we'll go with it,
as long as it's strong as it has a beat.
I've got a staple gun and safety pins
in case it still threatens to fall apart,
and if nothing else works, I'll just send in
an order for a brand spanking new heart
that I'll put in your chest no extra cost,
I know it's not the same. I know we won't
make up for all the moments that you lost,
but I think it'll be fine if we don't
linger on how it looks. Your heart's broken,
but we'll endure the scars after the mend.
