Today's OneWord: Pathway

"So what do I do now?"

The counselor I was sitting across from didn't look the least bit enthused while responding. "Frankly, I only see one pathway for you," he intoned, "if you don't pass senior English - and that's summer school. There are plenty of programs that would be willing to take you in..."

"Or," I countered, "you know, I could just drop out and continue to work at the car shop because it's kind of what I want to do with my life - that's two pathways now, isn't it?"

Today's OneWord: Statues

Why were the statues going white, and why was the rain cascading in sheets? I tried to find solace by the window, but the world outside had become nothing but glass. Blankets of water blurred the semblance of life that I stretched my mind to detect. Near me, my lover was asleep on the divan with wine pooling across her lap. Her curls lay in wet swaths around the warm nape of her neck. The statues would crumble in due time. The deluge was impending. We both would drown.
