Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #332

I Don't Have Time
by Belinda Roddie

I don't have time to waste or time to spare;
the world might be ending - all systems go.
Democracy is hanging by a hair,
and I'm just clinging to the things I know
and the people that I love for comfort.
I'm waiting for a miracle, for time
to give me more space in the day. Effort
can only get me so far, and my mind
can only manage so many affronts
to my pride and my confidence. I don't
have time to waste or time to spare. The months
are moving faster than ever. I won't
be lured into a false security,
but I do wish I had more time for me.
