Tonight's Poet Corner: Red

Red
by Belinda Roddie

The wax
on the creases
that hold your smile
at bay

It melts
and it fades
into a pink sunset
It flakes

like bleeding snow
onto my cheek
You thought you
would leave a lovely

imprint
but instead
it has smeared
into a Rorschach

test that reveals
an open wound
in my cortex
that has never healed
