Tonight's Poet Corner: Purple Parade

Purple Parade
by Belinda Roddie

Tomorrow, by Jove,
there's going to be
a parade - violet hair,
lavender boutonnere, lilac
shirt and purple trousers
and bow tie - all vibrant
tailcoats of the rainbow
on display.

And it's going to be done
in front of your mother,
and she's going to either
love it, or she's going to
wonder what went wrong
thirty years ago.
