Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

Ho, boy. Well. August is here. This was my last week without any sort of work obligations. Next week, I've got orientation and training. After that, professional development days. Then, the 19th? Show time.

I'm nervous - very nervous. I know I'm not fully prepared. This new school is going to be a whole new beast than the previous one - better in some ways, worse in others. I know I've got support, but I just want this to work. I want to like this school. I want to be successful at this school.

I'm super going to miss my former students, but I'm excited to meet new ones and work with new faculty. For now, however, I'm milking the last of my summer for all it's worth.

Apart from that, I'm stoked that my dad officially retired (about time - he deserved it), and I'll get to see him and my mom tomorrow. Going to also catch up with old friends. I just finished editing a book another friend wrote, and hopefully, I'll be able to meet up with him about it soon. The publication of my novel later this month is still a go. So hey, I did get some stuff done this summer that I wanted to.

Just deep breaths, Roddie. Deep, deep breaths.

Have a great night and a great weekend, everyone.
