Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #420

I'm Not Going To
by Belinda Roddie

I'm not going to tell the obvious
joke that comes with the number that you see
for this sonnet. Better for all of us
to just ignore the low fruit. It'd be cheap
to linger on a silly urban tale
that, surprisingly, started in a town
I used to live in. Yet I won't regale
you all with such a silly story. Now,
I may as well use this sonnet for things
of beauty, like so many I've written
before. After all, Shakespeare's language sings,
and I'd hate to turn poetry to sin.
Oh, well - this smattering's already shit.
Fuck it, here's the joke: Four twenty! Blaze it!
