Tonight's Poet Corner: When Night Fell

When Night Fell
by Belinda Roddie

When you caught me
under the street lamp,
I flinched:

not because of you,
but because that was when
the light flickered, and suddenly,

I could see shadows dancing
nearby that I had not
been able to see before.

And when you kissed me,
the shadows giggled.
I gave them the finger.

You didn't see it.
You were too busy with
me, and I was too busy with demons.
