Tonight's Poet Corner: My Beautiful Body

My Beautiful Body
by Belinda Roddie

She broke
my heart, tied up
my tongue, bruised
my brain, and drank
my tears,

but she would never
shatter my bones,
maim my legs, or
smash my teeth.

At least,
after all the pain
and the dirty footprints
and the growling
of suitcase wheels,
I still had the strength
to walk, and climb,
and smile.
