Tonight's Poet Corner: Down In The Heart

Down In The Heart
by Belinda Roddie

Sometimes, I wish they'd play
Steve Winwood's "Higher Love"
at the White Horse Inn in Oakland
once I've gotten tattooed by the
COVID-19 vaccine, but also by
real legit ink,

shining where the rainbow
tank top exposes both my skin
and my soul
to all of the fabulous lovelies.

That way, I could dance with
everyone and anyone, even if
I'm crap at it,

just
to fucking feel
alive.
