Tonight's Poet Corner: Come One, Bleed All

Come One, Bleed All
by Belinda Roddie

Carnage for the carnival,
please: It's the only way

that the dancers can keep dancing,
and the sword swallower can keep
swallowiing swords without hemorrhaging,

and the clowns can keep pretending to
find comedy within tragedy, and the beasts
can sustain more humanity than you can.

A little blood would be a boon,
a vial of violence for your troubles.
After all, that's all you need
for the entry fee.
