Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #182

Why Aren't You Here? by Belinda Roddie Why aren't you here? It's lonely without you. I live in my tiny office now. There, although I have a lovely city view, I feel like I'm lost in a dark nowhere. It's been six months since I last saw your face, and two months since I visited your grave. Occasionally, I walk to the place where we first met. I have our pictures saved and printed in scrapbooks I keep beside the couch that now serves as my bed. I hear the phone ring. I know my mother has cried as much as I have. Why are you not here? I don't care how death works. I want you to return to me so I can marry you.

Again, no OneWord update on the site. Got a bit of an every other day pattern going on this week. Oh, well!

Tonight's Poet Corner: Life in Bag End

Life in Bag End by Belinda Roddie I was just tall enough to rest my head against her bosom as she held me. Small as a child, yet blunt as a lover, I was surprised she endured my size. She called me her Hobbit, and I, finding the nickname fun, decided to make us second breakfast and indulge in elevensies while Saturday mornings were still alive. We were glad to go on adventures together, slay dragons together. I was small as a child, yet old enough to think about a wedding with ribbons and music and just enough cake to make this little Hobbit happy.

Today's OneWord: Sealed

The envelope was sealed, oddly enough, with wax. It was as if the sender were trying to reenact some olden days tradition, which of course was annoying to me because I was not exactly interested in holding the letter over a flame and letting the emblem melt. Instead, I tore at it with an old, brass letter opener, and sure enough, the paper itself was wrinkled and stained like parchment.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Ghost In A Crash

Ghost In A Crash by Belinda Roddie She waited by the traffic light, and when it turned red, she was gone. The green was there for only a moment before smoke began to bloom.

No OneWord site update today, and I'm not staying up late enough to find out if it's late. G'night!

Tonight's Poet Corner: Fortune Teller

Fortune Teller by Belinda Roddie Give me your hand, and I will see the cracks in your screaming destiny. My eyes are black - they do not lie. Your past is underwater, your future in the sky.
