Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

Well, everyone, I'm going to level with ya: It's been a really tough week. It seems like every morning when I wake up, something horrible and scary is happening in my country. I'm just going to try to enjoy these last two months before the unholy new regime starts. So, yeah, no real introspection tonight. If you're interested in seeing my thoughts on what's been happening in this country since the 8th, feel free to click  right here   for my thoughts and perspective. Barring anything unexpected happening, we're in for a rough and treacherous four years. Have a good night and a good weekend, everyone.

Friday's Ten Word Tales: The Revolution Will Be Livestreamed

The Revolution Will Be Livestreamed by Belinda Roddie Give every damn dissenter, protester, and reactionary an Internet connection.

Today's OneWord: N/A

No update on the OneWord website today. That means the prompt has only been changed twice during a five day period. Whoops.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #271

I Rented by Belinda Roddie I rented out a room to a sweet girl who I fucked three months later on a whim, the experience like a whole new world, a joyride that I could take for a spin. She made me coffee after we'd indulge in some fun in the morning. Soft, warm breasts were what she offered me, while I lay cold in her arms, air constricted in my chest. She planned to move out in another year: "To San Francisco!" she would always say. But I was used to her just being here, and somehow, I just wanted her to stay. It was just lust, not love, and it would cease; my heart and body were simply on lease.

Today's OneWord: Recover

It took Sheldon quite a while to recover and get his breath back after I had sucker punched him in the gut. Once we were done talking to the principal, I knew he'd never bother me again. I had been able to handle him calling me a "dyke" rapid fire like a homophobic machine gun, but insulting my crush just was too much for me. Besides, she asked me out on a date afterward, so yeah, that rocked.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Living In A Fantasy

Living In A Fantasy by Belinda Roddie I'm looking for a hole that I can live in like a Hobbit, eating bread and drinking mead until the apocalypse ends. Then I'll drag my hairy feet to the edges of the earth, where I'll find an oasis and begin my life again.

Today's OneWord: Wealth

"If I had all the wealth in the world..." She paused, then stuck her pipe back in her mouth and exposed crooked, browning teeth. "Well, then I wouldn't really be wealthy, would I? Because it'd hold no real value." "Depends on what your definition of wealth is, isn't it?" "Perhaps," she murmured through a plume of smoke. "Perhaps. I'd take a sunrise over a gold coin any day. Both are fleeting, but the sunrise always comes back the next day."
