"Your feelings about the matter were very...overt to the superintendent."

"Good. They were meant to be."

Barry sighed and looked over his shoulder. Behind him was the clusters of sixth graders who had relied on my words at the board meeting. They saw me and waved emphatically. One of them, who was wearing a full-blown set of headgear, flashed me a thumbs up.

"I just want you to realize what sort of commitment you're going into here," he reminded me.
