Today's OneWord: Sweep

"Impressive sweep," remarked the coach as the team sat down for beer and pizza. "I certainly didn't expect all of you to step up so high. Granted, I know how good you are, but...four games won with high scores against the same team ain't nothing to sneeze at."

I rolled my eyes and drank deeply from my pint. Coach Keaton always had a hard time dealing with the fact that running a girls' team didn't mean extra coddling was involved. I flexed my bicep at my teammate, and she grinned a goofy grin.

Today's OneWord: Statues

Why were the statues going white, and why was the rain cascading in sheets? I tried to find solace by the window, but the world outside had become nothing but glass. Blankets of water blurred the semblance of life that I stretched my mind to detect. Near me, my lover was asleep on the divan with wine pooling across her lap. Her curls lay in wet swaths around the warm nape of her neck. The statues would crumble in due time. The deluge was impending. We both would drown.
