Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

So a lot happened since my last introspection. I got to meet a wonderful author whose debut novel I loved. I delved further into the madness that is PACT (Performance Assessment for California Teachers; basically what I need to pass in order to get my teaching credential). I saw my staff at Fusion work valiantly to maintain order despite some departures. And I officially completed my first self-written English unit at a public high school.

A lot's been finished and accomplished, but a whole lot more's on the way. And as much as my anxiety tries to convince me otherwise, I know I can do this.

In the meantime, I've tried to maintain as robust of a social life as I can. Just tonight, I got to catch up with a buddy of mine and have some good food and drinks (while playing a mean game of skeeball; we're working on it). We're both teachers (he teaches piano), so I loved being able to open up about my teaching experiences and the pros and cons I see of both the public school system and the alternative school system. My friend was great about reminding me of how much I'm worth as both an educator and an individual, so some affirmation is never bad to receive on a Friday evening.

You will probably see a lot of overly brief "introspections" from me in the future; I am just that busy. It's a good kind of busy, don't get me wrong; but for the most part, I work, get my blog posts finished, and go to bed. I'll occasionally go out with my beautiful bride-to-be on a date, or see a friend, but apart from that, it's work, write, collapse. So sometimes, these little summaries and looks into my life will be extremely curt and not exactly that revealing.

My blog, my business, am I right?

All right, enough of me being sassy and proud of myself. Valentine's Day is coming up, so I gotta make it nice and relaxing for the fiancée. And next week will be a little easier on me, since my high school doesn't have classes - though I do still need to go to my credential classes and work my hours at my private school job. Hey, I get to sleep in, at least. I'll take what I can get.

Have a great night and a great weekend, everyone.
