Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #317

I'll Remember
by Belinda Roddie

I'll remember to breathe, to drink, to eat,
reminding myself that it's not my fault,
though sometimes my heart skips at least one beat,
as I attempt to swallow down the guilt.
I'll remember to laugh and smile and think
about the positives throughout the day,
though moments can still make bobbling boats sink
like cannon balls ripping the hull. I may
not always remember all of these things,
and I'll need some reminders every once
in a while. The elation each day brings
is always burdened by stress through the months.
So I'll remember to remember this:
Sometimes, I just need my dear wifey's kiss.
