Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #348

Jessie and Todd

Jessie and Todd were lovers in high school,
but once they graduated, it was doomed.
Jessie wound up with someone super cool -
a woman whose judicial career bloomed -
while Todd became a Catholic priest. He prayed
away the urges; his collar was stiff,
while his manhood was not. Jessie had made
a fortune off a video game blitz,
many she independently produced,
while her wife was bound for the Supreme Court.
In the meantime, Todd wanted to play loose
with a former nun at the church. A short
affair ensued, but he was quickly caught.
Excommunication is so not hot.

Today's OneWord: Statues

Why were the statues going white, and why was the rain cascading in sheets? I tried to find solace by the window, but the world outside had become nothing but glass. Blankets of water blurred the semblance of life that I stretched my mind to detect. Near me, my lover was asleep on the divan with wine pooling across her lap. Her curls lay in wet swaths around the warm nape of her neck. The statues would crumble in due time. The deluge was impending. We both would drown.
