Today's OneWord: Parrots

We go to the pet store, just in time to see a young woman with two parrots - one perched on each shoulder. We wonder aloud if she's a pirate, and when she hears our speculation, she laughs and turns to reveal the eyepatch. Instantly, you go red, and you begin apologizing profusely. But she tells us not to worry about it, that she gets those questions and comments all the time.

"If I had a pirate ship," she confides in us, "I'd call it the Featherbrain."

Today's OneWord: Statues

Why were the statues going white, and why was the rain cascading in sheets? I tried to find solace by the window, but the world outside had become nothing but glass. Blankets of water blurred the semblance of life that I stretched my mind to detect. Near me, my lover was asleep on the divan with wine pooling across her lap. Her curls lay in wet swaths around the warm nape of her neck. The statues would crumble in due time. The deluge was impending. We both would drown.
