Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #415
Oh, Cinnamon
by Belinda Roddie
Oh, cinnamon, you please my palate so,
whether it be for toast or luscious roll,
or mixed into a cocktail that shall flow
into my esophagus, my sweet soul
thanks you for your flavor, for your respite
in these dark, trying times. I savor you
in tea and sprinkle you across delights
to add some extra spice. Though I could do
without you, my life is improved by your
presence. While I recline beside my desk
and bemoan my workload, I know that more
of your spirit would please me. All the best
to you, my spackled love, and now, I will
add you to a martini I shall swill.
