Tonight's Poet Corner: Razed

Razed
by Belinda Roddie

It cools the temples to burn temples
with not a burden or restraint,
and once the bricks have crumbled,
they are like ash in the night.

And while the shadows will pretend
that they have seen the light,
their silhouettes dance without end
to music that's unheard.

It's easy to forget the value
of a single word,
though once it's scorched, it glows
far frighter than one could contend.

The pain will only last so long
and will not leave a dent.
For comfort, you can return to
your almonds and champagne.
