Tonight's Poet Corner: Flawed Character

Flawed Character
by Belinda Roddie

You may be an asshole, and
you'd be intolerable to talk to
in person, and I'd never take
tea or mead or the blood

of my enemies with you,
but I still appreciate your
presence in black on parchment,
where your sneer radiates

from the print, but it never
becomes more than
two-dimensional in its
gleam or its venom.
