Today's OneWord: N/A

OneWord site wasn't updated, so no OneWord entry today. Sowwy. Better luck tomorrow.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #49

The Great Whites and the Tigers by Belinda Roddie The great whites and the tigers lurk below our feet within the rushing foam of dark and vicious whirlpools that house all marine life that we still work hard to understand. They cruise the currents, teeth exposed, ready to chew and crush the skeletons of prey. They smell each rivulet of blood that moves within miles of their wide periphery, and every sharpened tooth strikes outward to make each creature submit to its harsh fate. The great whites idolized upon the screen, their mates the tigers even shy away. One day perhaps I'll see these wowing beasts and hope that I won't bleed out in the least.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Super Sexy

Super Sexy by Belinda Roddie Super sexy classmate texts me words of wisdom just to best me. I punch right back with twelve-point black Helvetica that dares her to convince me "that I'm not smarter than you." She takes pictures of the mixtures that she pops into the fissures of her oven, and I'm loving how she's hugging up the screen, eating a muffin, drinking coffee, language-coughing on the phone, "Date. Care to drop in?"

Today's OneWord: Zone

"He friend-zoned me." "You're kidding." Maurice sadly shook his head, his fingers poised on the little metal spoon as he continuously stirred the sugar in his coffee. I sighed and pinched his arm. "It's okay. You'll find someone else." "Someone that hot?" "Probably. With better abs." "God, I hope so."

Tonight's Poet Corner: Vegetable Oil

Vegetable Oil by Belinda Roddie People play a big part in washing the soul with quietly dying meats and X-ray looks into a pot of rice, a leg of chicken, a yellow-spotted liver just sizzling and waiting to be greased. The zest of a high-class meal does not taste as good as the meltdown of the angry man who cooks it in the kitchen. Unless the angry man is a father or brother who serves the head of the vicar or the priest with relish and a cooling spot of toxic fury. Cooking is a welcoming but absolutely desperate form of science - the mixing and yolking of eye whites with the need to entice or invent before the food is even tried. Zeke the chef makes lamb no differently than Franky the farmer, who pulls up carrots with aggressive hands and more aggressive heart. Go beyond the kitchen and you will find sad boys and girls crying over too much salt. Have yourself a slice of cake bought from a store. Call it storebought, but it was made by someone, iced and fros...

Today's OneWord: Want

I want ice cream. I want cake. I want a cute pink pony. I want money. I want clothes. I want a flashy Mercedes. I want riches. I want fame. I want three hot women on my arms. I want power. I want glory. I want a great big crown on my head. I want respect. I want obedience. I want cameras in every house. I want war. I want famine. I want everyone to bow down to me. And my little son in royal garb, I think he now wants ice cream.

Tonight's Poet Corner: I Decided To Be Evil

I Decided To Be Evil by Belinda Roddie I decided to be evil today - drown puppies, kill kittens, and strangle bunny rabbits. But I couldn't find any, and they looked way too cute to ever hurt. So I thought about setting my high school on fire. But I really needed to graduate so I could go to college, and college is always cool. I thought about making a bottle of poison to slip into my dad's coffee in the morning. But, honestly, I love my dad way too much. I guess all I can do is be the benevolent tyrant - pretend that I'm evil, but really just surround myself with ponies and sparkles and be an all-around really nice guy.
