Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #482

Image
Some Christmas Carols by Belinda Roddie Some Christmas carols I freely despise, I will admit, and openly as well. For instance, Elvis's "Blue Christmas" fries my brain and deserves to be shipped to Hell. Meanwhile, "Baby, It's Cold Outside," is so controversial, but really, it just sucks, regardless of the discourse. And you know that "Wonderful Christmastime" blows. No fucks to be given for that opinion. Now, many carols I love - "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" is gorgeous, and just how can you forgot "The Christmas Song" and some good old Vince Guaraldi? Just know I'll scoff at bad holiday tunes and shut them off.

Tonight's Poet Corner: A Hum

Image
A Hum by Belinda Roddie I heard a voice emerge from an automobile that did not belong to its driver.  The windows were tinted, so I could not gaze upon silhouettes. Yet the voice was loud enough to be heard from across the street. Like a murmuring siren emerging out of nowhere. Who could be speaking so loudly, yet so calmly, at this time of night? And how damn high were this dude's car speakers, if they were turned on at all? I hear a laugh. It's genuine, carefree. The night has gotten colder despite the voice's warmth.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Flawed Character

Image
Flawed Character by Belinda Roddie You may be an asshole, and you'd be intolerable to talk to in person, and I'd never take tea or mead or the blood of my enemies with you, but I still appreciate your presence in black on parchment, where your sneer radiates from the print, but it never becomes more than two-dimensional in its gleam or its venom.
