Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #502

Image
I Thought You Were by Belinda Roddie I thought you were a new friend I could trust, and, though imperfect, you were fair and kind. Now that polished image's covered in rust after I know all that you did behind our backs, and who you hurt. What did Shakespeare write again? "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child"? King Lear should have said thankless man , so uncouth and inappropriate was your advance and your inability to attempt to better yourself. I tire of this dance. I tire of being burned by those who meant to harm rather than help. I tire of it! And I do not forgive you - not one bit.

At A Friend by Belinda Roddie Caprese salad and asparagus with pasta bolognese fill me with bliss. Hot cocoa and conversation always mix. Some Dave Matthews also does the trick.

Tonight's Poet Corner: The Purple Pony

Image
The Purple Pony by Belinda Roddie The Purple Pony is where I met my love, where I burst like a neon supernova, drenched in sweet sweat and red wine on the worn out dance floor, while she swung me around until I saw sequins instead of stars. I drank tequila and cider at the Pony, and she had a mocktail, reminding me to be careful of my intake. We smoked a bowl outside and avoided the sirens. She let me kiss her on the cheek after she avoided my lips. I was a piñata ready to break and shower confections like rain. She was warforged iron, incapable of being defeated. Thus, I left the Purple Pony without my dame. If she'll have me, she'll tell me, smiling, over a Shirley Temple.
