Today's OneWord: Cast

Alison had been cast in the role of Hamlet for the all-woman production of the play, and somehow, Sharon had a massive problem with it. Alison couldn't figure out why, until she overheard Sharon having a conversation about it with Joel during their lunch break at work. The exchange went as followed:

"I just don't think she can handle it."

"Why not?"

"It's a big part. I mean, she's gonna be the show. Like, the whole show."

"So why not just be happy for her?"

Alison heard Sharon snort. "Because that would require me to have a heart. In any case, I should've been Hamlet. Not her."

Today's OneWord: Statues

Why were the statues going white, and why was the rain cascading in sheets? I tried to find solace by the window, but the world outside had become nothing but glass. Blankets of water blurred the semblance of life that I stretched my mind to detect. Near me, my lover was asleep on the divan with wine pooling across her lap. Her curls lay in wet swaths around the warm nape of her neck. The statues would crumble in due time. The deluge was impending. We both would drown.
