Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #396

There's No Mistake
by Belinda Roddie

There's no mistake: I am in love with you.
I've known it from the day that we first met,
when we indulged in a taco or two,
as well as a few beers. My father bet
that I would ask you out a day later,
and he was right. I'm glad that you said yes,
and yet, when I saw you, I wasn't sure
that you felt the same way about me. Just
the sight of me made my heart skip a beat,
but I didn't want to cause discomfort
on our date, and in the late August heat,
I was dizzy. I didn't want to hurt
you, but I think you ought to know the truth.
How you handle my words is up to you.
