Tonight's Poet Corner: Sirens' Screams

Sirens' Screams
by Belinda Roddie

Oh, darling temptresses, leading me
to the rocks that will puncture my heart
like roughshod scalpels botching martitime
surgery - I know you, and I understand
your game. The pawns you play
will die soon, but not I, no, not even
remotely soon. Storms rage on, and skies
are rarely blue, but as I sail on this unforgiving
sea, I could really do without you.
