Tonight's Poet Corner: Good Taste

Good Taste
by Belinda Roddie

At the gender reveal party
kept closely guarded
by boxer dogs
and neighborhood cats,

a couple paused
their modest barbecue
of T-bone steak
to cut the cake.

Pink and blue and gold
streaked the sponge like acrylic
paint as the cake was cut.

For they did not know if it was
a boy or a girl,

but they knew
their child would be
an absolute fancypants.
