Tonight's Poet Corner: Introspection

This week, I got to go to Big Bear for the first time, celebrate Thanksgiving with my in-laws, and all in all try to relax and take my mind off work. Emphasis on try. Not much to say otherwise, apart from how thankful I am for my loving family and my incredible wife. Even when everything else seems to be going wrong, I'm glad that the people in my life love me and have faith in me. Have a great night and a great weekend, everyone.

Friday's Ten Word Tales: Putting My Foot In My Mouth - Again

Putting My Foot In My Mouth - Again by Belinda Roddie My toes taste like salt and regret. And also...apricot?

Today's OneWord: Probably

In retrospect, I know that I probably shouldn't have done any of the things I did over those crazy five years. I probably shouldn't have said the things I said, kissed the people I kissed, believed the things I believed. I know that. I'm just...not sure how to handle the fall-out. Or figure out how I can move forward. But I'm here. And I have a job and an apartment. And I own a super awesome cat said Rodrigo. So I can't complain, really.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Sonnet Solstice #376

Here Are Some Things by Belinda Roddie Here are some things I learned this Thanksgiving: First of all, there is nothing wrong with your family celebrating one or two days early. Sometimes, work schedules are more than just a nuisance, so you have to try to tweak expectations for your loved ones. The second thing to learn is that if you plan to make tea in the microwave, please, for the love of God, remember to pour water into the mugs so you don't set your rented cabin ablaze. That would be a nightmare to pay for. And finally, remember that your family loves you, and they're sure thankful that you love them, too.

Tonight's Poet Corner: Early Celebration

Early Celebration by Belinda Roddie The day before Thanksgiving, we sat around a table with a broken leaf, devouring the typical staples of the holiday, enjoying the family vibe and the camaraderie. The day before Thanksgiving, we heard retail horror tales, got to dance to jazz and the Beatles, and heated up our bones with both sustenance and booze. The day before Thanksgiving, I remembered why I love you, and you remembered why you love me, and we settled down in front of the fire with our tired heads brimming with more stories.
